Skin Cancer Awareness

May 2, 2013

May is Skin Cancer awareness month which is a cause that is close to my heart.  Being a Stage IV melanoma survivor I try to share my knowledge to prevent this horrible disease.  That is why I enjoy my job here at AmeriTint.  When customers install film to their windows they are adding protection from the damaging effects of UV rays.

  • windows block UV-B rays – that is without tint
  • windows and window tint block both UV-A and UV-B
  • premature skin aging and skin cancer is caused by UV-A rays

Ultraviolet radiation from sun exposure is the primary cause of skin cancer. Although cutting out all exposure to the sun can have other effects, i.e. vitamin D deficiency. I hope that everyone limits their time in the sun to mainly to morning or late afternoon, avoiding the harshest part of the day. Moderation is key to staying healthy and keeping safe.
