A Window Film retrofit can be a cost effective solution to save energy

The International Window Film Association (IWFA) – a non-profit group – released a report that establishes window films are the most cost effective retrofit to save energy and reduce carbon footprint for consumers. This report was written for consumers in California, but it is applicable to our customer’s here in North Texas.

The study was conducted by ConSol, which is based in California. For the purpose of the study, the firm compared the installation of window films on existing buildings with other energy saving measures such as installing new HVAC units, which save energy, caulking and air sealing and R-38 ceiling insulation. When such comparisons were made, it was found out that using window films resulted in higher energy savings. In current building structures, installation of window films alone can result in a payback within a period of two years and also result in 70% a return on investment based on the location of the window film and the type of construction. The IWFA is a body of window film dealers, manufacturers and distributors who are focused on achieving growth in the industry by providing unprejudiced research material that will facilitate governments to come out with supporting policies and also help in enhancing the awareness about window films. The non profit organization maintains alliances with trade associations, government agencies, advance dealers and businesses to provide valuable services to their customers.
